Comic Con Re-cap

2011 Comic Con is finally over and I have to say, this one is really going to go down in the books as my most memorable. Before I start the wall of text, here was my weekend lineup :

Day 0 = Circe, DCUO

Day 1 = Psylocke, Marvel

Day 2 = Killer Frost, DC

Day 3/4 = Rogue, Marvel (Legacy)

Wednesday, Day 0, Preview Night

Demir and I rolled into preview night as Clark Kent and Circe. It didn't take long for Associated Press to hit us with a barrage of shutter clicks like a semi automatic. Crazy stuff! One of the photographers in the group worked for Getty Images so you know what that means! In less than 24 hours, our picture (with my derpy ass face coming up the escalator) was plastered all over a ton of websites, even some in other countries/languages. =D

After getting our badges we strolled around the dealer's hall where I ran into Garret Wang, aka Ensign Kim from Star Trek Voyager! [swoon] I completely fan girled him. It was glorious. Since I'm starting my collection of Star Trek autographs, I got his and kind of went crazy with excitement. God I love Star Trek. ^_^

I think this is the day I was on the 5PM news on fox. =D

Thursday, Day 1

I pulled Psylocke for my Day 1 costume.

Missed the Game of Thrones panel sadly. However, that did give us the time and opportunity to see the Archer panel and Batman Arkham City panel. Both were pretty damn awesome. =) I didn't hit the dealer hall at all this day and am not sure why we rolled in so late….But anyway! After the last panel, I met up with James from the San Diego Union Tribune. Kai pretty much introduced him to me as someone he might want to interview on cosplay stuff. I wish I had one of my other costumes for the interview, but it was about the fun anyway. We did a quick interview near the con and he then followed me around for a bit to film me getting cam whored as usual. It was a lot of fun and James is a cool guy. I'm impressed by how hard he had to work for this 2 minute coverage video seen here:

www.signonsandiego.com/video/?…

Thanks James!

Oh yeah! And we got our COMIC CON 2012 passes (4day with PN) that morning. Thank you so much to Matt who stood in line for us at 5:30am. We barely managed to get back in line! Eek. Looking forward to next year already. =D

We concluded our evening at Johnny's KBBQ. It was super cool getting to see so many people! The meat was also delish. A hearty thanks to our cooks. (and Johnny, I want my pink bag back. XD lol. And I have Jenn's battle yo-yo)

Friday, Day 2

OMG…THIS DAY.

So this was my Frosty Friday day where I was to get into Killer Frost. Quick story about this costume. Killer Frost was the very first cosplay I wore to comic con several years ago. It sucked. I had no idea how to do full body makeup, or even face makeup, or how to style a costume in general. It was a fun time and an interesting experience to say the least. Anyway, I anticipated that I would be giving up cosplay for good after SDCC (AHHAHAHHAHAHAH!!! WHO AM I KIDDING?!) and wanted my last cosplay to be the same as my first cosplay, redone to evaluate all I had learned over the years.

Continuing on our journey…I started my make up at 9am (mistake #1…but I was way too sleepy to get up earlier). Even though I had PAX in my makeup arsenal, I didn't have time to test it and was intimidated by the removal process. So instead of using PAX, I used cake makeup starting on my face and working south. The application was rough and after 3-4 hours I really hated the look and coverage. I was scared to throw away so many hours of makeup already, but cake makeup just wasn't going to work. I washed off, mixed up the PAX, and started to apply. Within 1-2 hours, it was completely done and the coverage was freaking amazing! I pretty much followed Chloe's method she outlined here :

the-sushi-monster.deviantart.c…

2 things I'll note for future use of PAX though…a thin layer on the hands is a really good idea. I accidentally applied it too thick on the hands and it spent the rest of the day peeling like crazy. Second thing to note is to put on the whole costume BEFORE applying PAX to the hands. Yeahh…..hands…annoying stuff.

Anyway, got to the con and shot with Kevin Knight and Mike Rollerson. Thanks guys! Also did some random interview for some random channel and did my usual cam whoring. I got to meet and chat with Psykitten Pow and Roxanne Meta while they were in their Fire and Ice costumes. Yay for ice costumes!

Killer Frost is probably the new Tayuya this year in that Mike Rollerson's photo ended up getting used quite a bit as the cover for many comic con galleries, especially the "babes of comic con" picks that a few website run. That was cool. =D

Went home early and spent the next 3 days removing PAX…let's not talk about that. >_

Saturday, Day 3

Debuted my newest costume, Legacy Rogue! The costume came together really fast and I'm really pleased with how it come out. I still have a lot of work to do on the costume, but I'm still pretty happy with it. I was still covered in white PAX from Killer Frost, but luckily, Rogue is a super covered up cosplay. Ha! I was also really excited to maximize my cleavage using 2 push up bras. Totally worth it. XD

Other random memories from Saturday: Saw the Legend of Korra panel. Hooooooolllyyyyy craaaaappp so awesome. I smacked one of the Power Ranger actors/stuntmen in the face for putting his hand on me after I told him no. Did a streaming interview with niconico.com. I love that comment scrolling screen. So cool! Got a picture with Ms. Marvel and the guy who wrote the Ms. Marvel x Rogue episode while in my Rogue costume. Went to masquerade. It's soooo much smoother than AX's masquerade that's for sure.

Then it was off to Comic Conbusi party! SO MUCH LOL. I can't get the image of the BRONADO out of my head. DID ANYONE GET A SHOT OF THAT? Because that was sheer hilarity. Oh yeah, and getting motorboated by Justine and having a million girls grab my super padded tatas. Also, Auriol x Sarah x Billy singing 'All I Ask of You' made my heart melt. XD GREAT PARTY MIKE!

Sunday, Day 4

Last day! Usually I go non-cosplay this day, but felt like taking my new Rogue Legacy costume for another spin.

I got to meet Demir's mom who is probably the most charmingly adorable woman I've ever met. Most hilarious memory from that meeting was her going off to grab one of ABC's camera men and telling him he should film me because I'm pretty…and then he did! And then I ended up on the 5PM news again, but for ABC! LOLOLOL XD

I also got Michael Dorn (Lt Worf, Star Trek TNG) autograph. Having him tell me I'm beautiful kind of made me die inside. Lol. Later on I went back to try to get Marina Sirtis' (Troi, Star Trek TNG) autograph. It was almost the end of the day and it looked like she had left. I was dismayed and asked if she was still around. The booth said to hang out and she might be convinced to do one more. I wanted for 5 minutes while she chatted with some other actors. Once she was done, I asked nicely and she totally got me one! =D happiest day ever. AND THEN! Michael Dorn comes back saying 'hey where's your bf?' I told him Demir was on the other end of con. He then puts his arm around me and says 'oh is that so??? Hey how YOU doin baby?' and then I died inside again. XDDDDD John Yang I need those photos!!! Marina also started saying "ohhh!! So THAT'S the girl you were talking about!" OMG OMG OMG WORF WAS TALKING ABOUT ME TO COUNSELOR TROI I CAN DIE SOON (after I get more autographs XD)

And then I went home and  died again. So much dying this con.

OVERALL :

This was probably the BEST COMIC CON I've ever had. I'm hoping to do things a bit differently next year so that I can arrive at con before 10am everyday (I arrived after 12 noon every day this con) and not have so many late nights. Also, I lost only 4 toes. hopefully the feeling will come back to them soon. XD
