My terrifying project has debuted! Thank you to Mike Rollerson who took my photos!
Gosh...where do I even start on what to say....
COSTUME = when the ame-comi hawkgirl was first released, i adored the design and wanted to cosplay her. however, i lacked the skill, knowledge, and resources to take on such a project. years later, after meeting so many amazing folks, I stumbled across anti-ai chan's plan to form a large ame-comi group. i decided i finally had the resources to do this project with no experience in armor making, wing making, or even patterning.
BUILD = I posted a lot of work in progress shots of this armor coming together on my facebook page ==> [link] <=== Please check it out if you want to know how I made it Total working days were about 2 weeks
THANKS = I owe a great deal to my boyfriend Demir for letting me use his workshop to build and for putting up with me completely messing up the house to do it. Additionally, thanks go to friends Rob, Jet, and Susan for helping me notch/paint the individual feathers because i was running out of time. Another thanks to Todd Graziano who I commissioned to make the mace in what.... 2 or 3 days? It was super short and very stressful but he really pulled through! A really really really big thank you goes to Etaru, j-family, and kommissar props who's projects are the ones i learned from.
I owe a great deal to everyone who's come into my life over the past year or so. in a way...this massive leap in skill is a reflection of all of your influence on me and how amazing you guys are. i don't say it enough, but my dear friends, you all inspire me. thank you for sharing your knowledge, your friendship, and great company
I too have been watching your progress on FB and I must admit this is very cool.. well done there Kiwi5..... keep it up but you didn't give us any pics with the helmet on... sob'
This turned out so awesome. I've been watching all your progress on FB and it looked like it took massive amount of work (and hair tearing + swearing). So glad that you managed to finish it in time for comic con.
